ABOUT LAURA

My Service to You

Life is unpredictable and many people are unprepared from a financial and medical perspective when things go wrong.

I bring a professional, practical and personal approach in wanting to help you to protect your assets and provide for those you care about in the best way possible.

I am able to meet with you during office hours or out of hours and at the weekend. I would prefer to meet with you in person but where this is not possible, I am able to meet you via a video call on Microsoft Teams, FaceTime or WhatsApp, whilst still continuing to offer advice by telephone and email.

My Background

I qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and completed my training contract at a leading London law firm, working for them post-qualification. I have subsequently worked at various large law firms as a commercial litigator and subsequently as general manager of a 21 court lawn tennis club, before deciding to set up on my own as a freelance wills and trusts solicitor.

My Professional Memberships and Standards

Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)

I am a member of the Law Society, the independent professional body for solicitors and describing itself as “the voice of solicitors, driving excellence in the profession and safeguarding the rule of law”.

I am regulated by the SRA, the regulatory body for Solicitors in England and Wales, to practice as a Freelance Solicitor.

Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP)

I am an affiliate member of STEP with certificates from them in Trusts and Estates and Advanced Will Preparation. STEP is a global professional association comprising lawyers, accountants, financial advisors and other practitioners that help families plan for their futures. They set standards, training and education for their members and I am committed to upholding those standards.

Society of Will Writers (SWW)

I am also a full member of SWW, a society which has grown to become  the largest but also the leading self-regulatory body governing Will Writers and Estate Planners alike, with over 1,700 members across the UK, Central Europe and further afield in places such as Asia and Africa.

The Society seeks to promote to the public at large the real need and sense in having a valid Will and to act as a self-regulatory body by vetting practitioners through stringent membership requirements, proficiency standards and ongoing training. I adhere to their Code of Conduct and carry professional indemnity insurance to a limit of £2.5 million including public liability insurance.

In my spare time I enjoy family time, cycling, hiking and playing tennis. I am a volunteer vaccinator with St John’s Ambulance and local litter picker. I am a regular supporter of the NSPCC and Cancer Research UK.
