We do not pick and choose when accidents or health situations such as strokes occur. A Health and Welfare LPA will ensure that your attorney manages your treatment in your best interests and/or as you have directed them to. Without an LPA, your partner or children do not automatically have the right to specify on your behalf what treatment you should or should not receive.
Health and welfare decisions might be about:

consent to life sustaining treatment

refusal of treatment in certain circumstances

remaining in your home for as long as possible
-
what exercise and fresh air you might like to take.
Your attorneys can only act for you under this LPA if your LPA is registered and you no longer have mental capacity.
